DNFTA Fund Development Director

Job Purpose

The Fund Development Director is responsible for furthering relationships with existing affiliates, cultivating donors, acquiring prospective donors, and fostering a relationship with professional advisers and the community.  The principle focus is relationship-building, communication, and solicitation.  This position also involves strategic development for the fundraising activities that support the organization’s programs.  The director plays a vital role in achieving the strategic objectives for the programs of the organization and shall report directly to the Board.


Job Function includes the following Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Make presentations to prospective donors
  • Cultivate donor relationships
  • Conduct small group presentations
  • Public Speaking
  • Develop and optimize strategies for achieving fundraising targets and reaching different market segments
  • Help plan and organize fundraising events and activities
  • Maintain donor database (currently on DonorTools) in coordination with the Executive Director
  • Demonstrated success in fund development; a clear track record of fund development success
  • •Knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising principles

Experience, Education, and Qualifications

  • Marketing experience in social media, and willingness to innovate, learn, and adapt to new technologies
  • Preferred: 3 years of relevant experience with donors and/or fundraising in the volunteer sector
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, coursework completed in fundraising, marketing, and/or volunteer management a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Superb interpersonal skills will people from all walks of life and different cultures and personalities, charisma
  • Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and adapt to change
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for environmental causes
  • Must believe in the mission and vision of the organization

This position will start as part-time, 10-hours a week.
